In Kazakhstan, individual identification numbers (IIN) are widely used for obtaining government services, paying taxes and other mandatory payments, and carrying out various registration actions by individuals. Requirements for presenting documents containing identification numbers have been extended not only to citizens of Kazakhstan but also to foreign citizens permanently or temporarily residing in our country.
Without an assigned IIN, foreign citizens cannot undergo the procedure of state registration as founders of a company, cannot conclude employment contracts, or use banking services for opening and maintaining accounts. Therefore, to fully operate and conduct business, foreigners need to obtain an IIN.
An electronic digital signature (E-Signature) is required for obtaining government services online, registering a company, concluding employment contracts, and signing electronic documents, as electronic document flow is quite common here.
According to new rules starting from February 2024, personal presence of the applicant is required for obtaining an IIN; it is no longer possible to obtain an IIN through a power of attorney.
